Introduction

Located between three prestigious AOC PESSAC-LEOGNAN first growths CHATEAU MALARTIC-LAGRAVIERE, DOMAINE DE CHEVALIER and CHATEAU DE FIEUZAL, CHATEAU LE SARTRE, was a well-known winery in the 19th century. Rediscovered in the late seventies by the Perrin family, owners of Chateau Carbonnieux, the 90 acres estate of first-rate terroir is now managed since 2004 by the late Antony Perrin's sister Marie-José Leriche with the help of her husband René and their manager and winemaker David Château.
A graduate oenologist David was trained by Christophe Roumier (manager and winemaker of the Domaine Georges ROUMIER in Chambolle-Musigny) and Isabelle Dutartre (consultant oenologist with De Ponte Cellars, Willamette Valley, Oregon).

« Winemaking is always an interpretation of the potentialities of a vineyard; however personal it must remain subtle and respectful of the "terroir". The quality of the grapes is truly of the essence; it is the reward of the vineyard caretaker when his meticulous cultivation has overcome the vegetative and climatic ups and downs with a minimum impact on the vineyard environment and intrinsic values. »
