"The wines of Le Sartre.....can compete…. with the great growths of Léognan"

Edition 1922 du Féret

Located between three prestigious first growths "châteaux" of the "Pessac-Léognan appellation" , Le SARTRE was a well-known winery in the 19th century. Rediscovered in the late seventies by the Perrin family, owners of "Château Carbonnieux" , the 90 acres estate of first-rate terroir is now managed since 2005 by the late Antony Perrin’s sister Marie-José Leriche with the help of her husband René and their manager and winemaker David Château.
A graduate oenologist David was trained by "Christophe Roumier" (manager and winemaker of the Domaine Georges ROUMIER in Chambolle-Musigny) and "Isabelle Dutartre " (consultant oenologist with De Ponte Cellars, Willamette Valley, Oregon).

"Winemaking is always an interpretation of the potentialities of a vineyard ; however personal it must remain subtle and respectful of the “terroir”. The quality of the grapes is truly of the essence; it is the reward of the vineyard caretaker when his meticulous cultivation has overcome the vegetative and climatic ups and downs with a minimum impact on the vineyard environment and intrinsic values."
David CHATEAU
